Soft and Flaky Paratha(Farata) Recipe Mauritian Style

Ingredients

Ingredients for Soft and Flaky Paratha(Farata) Recipe Mauritian Style:

  • 4 cups of all purpose flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup of vegetables oil
  • Additional flour
  • Additional vegetables oil
  • About 3/4 to 1 cup of hot water

Method

Preparation of Soft and Flaky Paratha(Farata):

  1. In a large bowl add flour, salt and 1/2 cup of oil stir, add water little by little knead until form a soft dough. Cover and let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, roll until the thickness is about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with oil and fold according to the video. Repeat the same process to the rest of the balls.
  3. Heat a pan on medium. Roll the folding dough to the thickness of your choice or please watch the video for more info add to the pan.
  4. When the parata is starting to create bubbles start brushing with oil then flip and brush the other side and remove from heat. 
  5. Bon appetit, Soft and Flaky Farata is ready to eat.
